Notre Dame Football: Tommy Tremble continues to rise in latest mock draft
By Brad Weiss
During the 2021 NFL Draft, it is no big secret that star linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is likely to be the first member of the Notre Dame football program to be drafted. This is a player who has been in nearly every mock draft as a first-round pick, getting selected everywhere from No. 7 overall to the Detroit Lions, to No. 26 overall to the Cleveland Browns.
No matter where he is picked, JOK is going to be the first member of the Irish program off the board, and in his latest mock draft for CBS Sports, Josh Edwards likes the versatile linebacker to go No. 18 to the Miami Dolphins. Miami has been a popular destination for JOK in mock drafts, and it would make sense, as they plan to be moving on from Kyle Van Noy.
Also in most mock drafts, offensive tackle Liam Eichenberg is the next member of the Notre Dame football team off the board, but in Edwards’ latest three-round mock, that honor belongs to tight end, Tommy Tremble.
Notre Dame Football TE Tommy Tremble goes No. 69 overall
After declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft, many felt it was a mistake for Tommy Tremble, as he was not even the best tight end for the Irish this past season. However, as is the case for many draft prospects, his game actually plays better at the next level, as he could be a fullback, H-Back, and tight end for an NFL team.
He has a great skill set, is athletic, and plays like a linebacker, and all of that versatility is well worth a draft selection. In this mock by Edwards, Tremble finds himself inside the top-70 picks, a meteoric rise, landing with Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
This would be an excellent spot for Tremble, as this is a young team in need of playmakers, and he would get an opportunity to get big-time playing time right away. Interestingly enough, Eichenberg was not even drafted in this three-round mock, as just JOK and Tremble hear their names called across the first 95 selections.
