The Notre Dame football team was one of the best in college football once again last season, making it to their second College Football Playoff in the last three seasons. Led by a veteran under center in Ian Book, talented players on both sides of the ball, and an All-World offensive line, the Irish were able to go undefeated during the regular season.

As we turn the page to the 2021 college football season, some feel the Irish will take a step back, citing all of the losses due to the NFL Draft. The Irish have the second-most players invited to this year’s strange Combine with 11, which is a testament to how many players are leaving South Bend.

At quarterback, the Irish are replacing the all-time winningest signal-caller in school history, but one outlet feels the Notre Dame football program is still in good hands.

Notre Dame Football in good hands with Jack Coan

In a recent post by Dennis Dodd over at CBS Sports, the outlet discussed several things to keep an eye on in the 2021 college football season. One area was in terms of transfers, and who will make the most impact at their new school.

For the Notre Dame football program, are in the process of replacing Ian Book, and will likely do so with former Wisconsin signal-caller Jack Coan. Dodd listed Coan as one of 11 stud transfers this college football season, due to the fact he had success with the Badgers and will enjoy running Tommy Rees’offense.

Behind Coan are true freshman Tyler Buchner and holdovers Brendon Clark and Drew Pyne, all of which will get a chance to win the starting job this spring and summer.

The Irish appear to be loaded at quarterback for the foreseeable future as well, with Tyler Buchner in the 2021 recruiting class, and Steve Angeli committing on Thursday night. In 2021, Coan should play the bulk of the snaps at quarterback, with Buchner getting some reps, and all signs point to him being able to successfully take the reins from Book.
