The Notre Dame Football program landed a huge QB prospect in Steve Angeli, and he could help them bring more talent to South Bend.

The Notre Dame Football program got a huge commitment a few weeks back, as Bergen Catholic (NJ) High School star Steve Angeli picked the Irish over a host of other schools. For those not familiar with Bergen Catholic, or the talent they play, that division of NJ high school football is one of the best in the country.

Teams like BC, St. Joseph Regional, and Don Bosco produce numerous elite college football players every season and have seen many go on to the pros. My younger brother, Brent Weiss, was a state champion quarterback during his time at St. Joes, throwing to the likes of Jason and Devin McCourty, so I am well aware of just how elite the players who come out of these three schools are.

In Angeli, the Irish hopefully have gotten their quarterback of the future, as he is a player with a tremendously high ceiling. Due to COVID, he did not have a ton of playing time in high school, starting 15 games for the Crusaders, but he has displayed the kind of talent that could make him the next star signal-caller in South Bend.

Not only has Angeli committed to the Irish, but it looks like he is committed to bringing some friends along with him, including two outstanding defensive backs in teammates Jaedan Gould and Jayden Bellamy. Both players are elite prospects and would be outstanding additions to this Irish defense.

Also, Angeli has stated that he would love the Irish to land Kaden Saunders, a wideout he worked out with at the Under Armour Columbus Camp this month. Angeli is already proving to be an asset for this program, even before officially becoming a part of the Irish roster.

Notre Dame Football building elite 2022 class

With Angeli, the Irish have been putting together an elite 2022 class, one that is ranked in the top-5 according to rivals247.com. They have already gotten commitments from eight four-star prospects, and new defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman, along with the rest of the staff has been hot on the recruiting trail over the past few months.

The Irish have been to two of the last three College Football Playoffs, and while they are losing a bunch of talent to the NFL Draft this offseason, the roster is reloading for sure. They are trying to add talent the way Alabama and Ohio State do, and they appear to have the right staff to do just that moving forward.
