The Notre Dame Football program is replacing a special group along the OL, but some special players are joining the Irish as true freshmen.

Heading into the 2021 offseason, one of the biggest question marks for this Notre Dame Football team was what they would do upfront along the offensive line. The group of players leaving certainly had outstanding success with the Irish, winning ten-or-more games in four straight seasons, and producing multiple draft picks.

In fact, the Irish could see all four starters who have left for the NFL Draft from last year’s team drafted this year, which would be an incredible statement for this program. Remember, Notre Dame Football is considered “Offensive Line U,” and a new group of Irish linemen are ready to get to the NFL and dominate.

In their place, the Irish have to revamp eighty percent of the offensive line from a year ago, and they could do so with two true freshman starters.

Notre Dame Football could start two true freshmen

Based on what we have seen this spring from the Irish true freshmen, this is not a group that is coming in and expecting to sit behind veterans. Some players could come in and start right away, and in Rocco Spindler and Blake Fisher, they have two offensive linemen who could jump in and be a starter for the Notre Dame Football program in 2021.

They have entered the program, and have shown the same kind of power they did in high school, and for a program replacing monster names like Liam Eichenberg, Aaron Banks, Tommy Kraemer, and Robert Hainsey, the addition of Spindler and Fisher could not have come at a better time.

Despite losing a ton of NFL talent this offseason, the Irish are still considered a preseason top-10 team by many media outlets. Of course, if these true freshmen can step in and be difference makers in Year 1, then the narrative surrounding the team could improve to the point where they could be considered CFP contenders once again.
