In the final mock draft for Pro Football Network, Notre Dame Football star left tackle Liam Eichenberg plummets out of the first two rounds.

The 2021 NFL Draft is only a few days away, and there will be many members of this Notre Dame football program that are going to be making their dreams a reality. This has been an outstanding group for the Irish, going to two College Football Playoffs, and as we inch closer to the first round, we have been seeing players mocked up and down the draft board.

Looking at one recent mock draft, the Irish will certainly be well-represented across the three-day event, but one star was shockingly mocked much lower than we have seen in the weeks leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft.

Looking at the final mock draft over at Pro Football Network by AJ Schulte, not only does Liam Eichenberg fall out of the first round, but he also plummets outside of the second round as well. Schulte speaks to the fact that Eichenberg fell short of the “33 inch” arm rule, and lands with the New York Giants at pick No. 76 overall.

While New York would be an excellent fit for Eichenberg, as they certainly need help upfront along the offensive line, this is as low as I have seen him go this mock draft season. Across his last two years with the Irish, Eichenberg did not allow a single sack on quarterback Ian Book, displaying the ability to downright dominate at the college level.

The NFL may be another animal in terms of the talent he will line up against, but he played against some elite teams this past season in Clemson and Alabama, and more than held his own against the best of the best.

When all is said and done, I believe that Eichenberg will either creep into the bottom of the first round, or be selected early in the second. This is one of the more NFL-ready offensive tackles in this year’s draft class, and you only have to look at his tape to see that he belongs to be one of the first 50 players selected.
