The Notre Dame Football program is getting a special talent in Audric Estime, who was recently named Gatorade’s NJ Player of the Year.

The Notre Dame Football program added two elite running backs during the 2021 recruiting cycle, Logan Diggs and Audric Estime. Both bringing a different style to the table, the tandem will be a special pair in South Bend, as the Irish continue to stack talent at the position group.

On Thursday, it was announced that Estime would be Gatorade’s Player of the Year for the State of New Jersey, after rushing for nearly 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns for St. Joes this past season.

An all-around running back, who can run over, or through defenders, Estime dominated one of the premier leagues in the country during his time at St. Joseph Regional (NJ) High School. His league consists of teams like Bergen Catholic (Steve Angeli), and Don Bosco, two schools that produce numerous college and pro stars.

For Estime, this is another crowning achievement in a remarkable career at St. Joes, and as he turns his focus to the college level, he is going to be a part of what should be one of the best running back units in the country in 2021.

Kyren Williams and Chris Tyree should see the bulk of the carries this upcoming season, as Williams is considered one of the top backs in the country. Tyree is as explosive as they come, and we saw during his true freshman season that he can find the end zone from anywhere on a football field.

While Williams and Tyree will be featured, expect both Estime and Diggs to get playing time as a true freshman, as Kelly looks to see what he has outside of his top two backs.

Overall, the Irish should be set at the running back position for years, as they also added a quality back in Jadarius Price for the 2022 recruiting class. With so much talent up front along the offensive line, it is no wonder running backs want to come play for the Irish, and before all is said and done, Estime is going to carve out quite a career in South Bend.
