The Notre Dame Football program has one of the best running backs in the country in Kyren Williams, but their No. 2 is pretty special as well.

The Notre Dame Football team has the luxury of having some special players at the running back position, including the top two guys on the depth chart, Kyren Williams and Chris Tyree. Last season, Williams ran all over ACC defenses, racking up over 1,000 yards, and becoming the conference’s Offensive Freshman of the Year.

Back to their Independent schedule, the Irish will try to return to normalcy this upcoming season, but there are a lot of question marks on the roster. Luckily for this Notre Dame football team, none of those questions are at running back, where Williams is likely to go off again in 2021, but Tyree is going to also find a way to have a major impact on this team in Year 2.

Notre Dame Football has a two-headed monster at running back

During his true freshman season in 2020, Tyree showed he can take the football at any time and get to the end zone. That is going to be key for this Irish offense in 2021, as they have question marks at wide receiver, and will be turning the program over to Jack Coan at quarterback.

Tyree is a blazing runner, known for making plays happen in space. You can be sure that Tommy Rees is going to everything he can to have Williams and Tyree be a thunder-and-lightning duo this upcoming season, as they are the perfect tandem to do so.

Also, the program continues to stack talent at the running back position, bringing in the likes of Audric Estime and Logan Diggs this recruiting cycle, and Jadarian Price next year. Williams is likely to be gone after this season, as running backs do not want to get a lot of wear and tear heading into the NFL, so it could be Tyree’s show in 2022.

Whether it is going to be out of the backfield, in the passing game, or even on special teams, Tyree is going to impact several Notre Dame Football games in a major way in 2021. This is an offense that has a real question mark at quarterback, but in terms of the running back spot, they are absolutely loaded.
