The Notre Dame Football program landed a legacy on Friday, signing the younger brother of current defensive tackle Kurt Hinish.

On Friday evening, the Notre Dame Football program landed 2022 defensive tackle Donovan Hinish out of Pittsburgh. If the last name sounds familiar to you it’s because he’s the younger brother of current Notre Dame defensive tackle, Kurt Hinish. Donovan was on campus the weekend of the Blue-Gold Game last month to watch his brother but obviously, he had some additional reasons to get to South Bend.

He wanted to make it official after taken a visit or two but he pulled the trigger and now he’s officially part of the 2022 recruiting class. The staff loves his brother Kurt both on and off the field and I think they have a feeling that Donovan could potentially be even more productive on the field than his brother has been thus far.

At the moment Donovan holds eight offers from Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, and others.

What will Hinish bring to the Notre Dame Football program?

The 6’2 280-pound defensive tackle is going to bring a motor that not many have. He will not only bring strength but also solid technique along the line. What seems to separate him from when Kurt Hinish came to Notre Dame is Donovan is a lot more sound when it comes to his technique and he uses his hands much more effectively.

Obviously, he’s very strong, but that isn’t all his toolbox has at this point in his career. I do think he’s in a better position because of those reasons. Hinish will definitely be able to add mass and strength to his frame but him knowing how to use his quickness/technique at the right time will help him get on the field much faster.

I don’t care what his rank is, having another Hinish with that type of mentality is much more impressive at the point of his football career and those are the type of guys you want around your locker room. It will be very fun to see how he develops early on in his career in South Bend.

With Donovan Hinish committing to Notre Dame this weekend the class now has 14 pledges, 7 on defense and 7 on offense. The Irish also landed a huge transfer commit earlier today with offensive Guard Cain Madden joining the fold.

As for Hinish, he will be joining Tyson Ford, Aiden Gobaira, and Darren Agu along the defensive line. The group was already outstanding before Hinish and now he just adds more power and physicality that you want. It’s not even close to being over yet for the front of this defense when it comes to recruiting, so stay tuned Irish fans.
