During his time as starting QB for the Notre Dame Football team, Ian Book became a star and was recently included in an exclusive Rookie Premiere Class.

For nearly 30 years, the NFLPA has been putting together a Rookie Premiere Class for first-year players entering the NFL. These players are labeled as the most marketable faces in the incoming class, and for the Notre Dame Football program, only one incoming rookie was named to the 60-player class.

Overall, the Irish saw 14 players go from helping the Irish to a College Football Playoff berth, to the NFL, with nine of them being selected in the 2021 NFL Draft. The first off the board, Liam Eichenberg, landed in Miami and was followed a few picks later by a fellow offensive lineman, Aaron Banks.

Linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah was also picked in the second round, landing as a steal to the Cleveland Browns at No. 52 overall. Many felt he would have been a first-round pick, and an easy choice for this collection of incoming stars, but he was left off the list.

When it comes to those players drafted in the 2021 NFL Draft from Notre Dame, a total of nine, only one player was invited to the 2021 NFLPA Rookie Premiere class. That player was not even taken on Day 1 or 2, as it was quarterback Ian Book who was one of 60 players honored.

The first quarterback taken on Day 3, Book landed in a perfect spot with the New Orleans Saints, where he will look to carve out a spot on the depth chart. The Saints are in the process of replacing a legend in Drew Brees and based on his size, and skill set, there is no reason why Book can’t make a steady rise up the depth chart in the Bayou.

One player who was noticeably left off was Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who is easily going to be one of the best 60 rookies in the NFL this season. In fact, only two linebackers were named, Chazz Surratt from North Carolina, and Micah Parsons from Penn State, two deserving players as well.
