Notre Dame football: 3 bold predictions on offense in 2021

Jack Coan starts every game for the Irish

Going into the summer, the assumption is that Jack Coan will be the starting quarterback for the Irish, and for good reason. This is a guy who played solid football the last time he was a starter, leading the Wisconsin Badgers to the Big Ten title game, so there is no reason why he cannot succeed in South Bend.

Also, as the starter for Wisconsin in 2019, he orchestrated an offense led by an elite running back in Jonathan Taylor, something he could do with the Irish. By leaning on Taylor, Coan was able to play mistake-free football for the most part, and that is the kind of quarterback this team needs in 2021.

Sure, Drew Pyne could get some playing time, as well as true freshman Tyler Buchner, but there is reason to believe that Coan will start every game this season.

Based on how good the defense is supposed to be in 2021, the Irish offense needs to do their best to keep the team in games and put up points when they are in the red zone. There may not be a ton of fireworks this season, especially through the air, but Coan proved at Wisconsin that he can put his teammates in a position to win every single week.
