The Notre Dame football program is building an elite 2022 recruiting class, and on Sunday, they added Florida defensive back, Devin Moore.

Let the fireworks begin! Sunday evening Notre Dame football landed 2022 defensive back Devin Moore out of Naples, Florida. During the second weekend of June, Moore and his family took his official to Notre Dame and completely fell in love.

If you know, you just know with Notre Dame, and clearly, that was it for Moore. He did take several other official visits before making his decision public, but in the end, defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman and Mike Mickens were able to get the job done.

As for Notre Dame, aside from the campus itself, the relationships with some current commits, and coach Mickens and Freeman to name a few, were really key here for the Naples native. At the end of the day, though, Brian Kelly absolutely loved Moore and made him a massive priority since they offered back in May of last year.

Kelly got his guy, no doubt about.

At the moment, Moore holds 24 offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Stanford, and many other top programs around the country.

What will Devin Moore bring to the Notre Dame football program?

The 6’3 190 pound defensive back will bring length and flexibility to the Irish, and he’s someone that has the tools to play both corner and safety.  What separates Moore is his “ball hawk” attitude, as the kid knows how to go up and snatch a football.

Obviously, him having the length is a huge advantage both on the back end of the defense and closer to the line of scrimmage, whether it’s man or press coverage. His reach is outstanding and he has nice makeup speed that will help him in those situations as well.

At the end of the day, he will need to add some strength, which I won’t see as a problem, and focus on being a little more polished in his footwork, but that should come with more and more experience. What he doesn’t need is more playmaking abilities, because that’s exactly what Moore is, a playmaker.

This is a great get for the staff coming all the way from the sunshine state, where he also faces solid competition week in and week out, which is never a bad thing for a young player.

With Moore making it official, the 2022 recruiting class is filling up quickly, and now holds 18 commitments, ten on defense and eight on the offensive side. Moore will be joining Jaden Mickey and Jayden Bellamy in the defensive back room, where I’d expect there to be at least two more additions, with possibly added a third to the room if it’s the right player.

The defensive staff has been doing an excellent job this cycle and even next recruiting class and I don’t expect that to slow down with defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman at the helm.
