The Notre Dame football program got strong play from Tommy Tremble during his time with the school, and he should be an x-factor at the next level.

When Notre Dame football tight end Tommy Tremble announced that he was leaving school for the NFL, it brought a bunch of raised eyebrows. Tremble was not even the best tight end of the Irish’s roster last season, but obviously, he talked to the right people before deciding to enter the 2021 NFL Draft.

After declaring, Tremble began to shoot up draft boards, and rightfully so, as he has the perfect skill set to be a very valuable player at the next level. During the 2021 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers came calling in the third round, taking him with the 83rd overall pick, and yesterday, he signed his rookie contract with the team.

Now that that is taken care of, Tremble can head to training camp ready to earn a starting job on a young offense led by Sam Darnold. After being blasted during his time in New York, Darnold is looking to change the narrative surrounding him in Carolina, and a player like Tremble could be a real asset for him.

Tremble will be able to make plays in the passing game and clear the way for running back Christian McCaffrey, who is one of the best in the game at his position. In addition, he can be a force in the red zone, and for a Panthers offense looking for answers this offseason, Tremble brings a lot to the table.

Notre Dame football saw 14 players head to the NFL this offseason

The Notre Dame football program sent 14 players to the NFL this offseason, whether it be a draft pick like Tremble or an undrafted free agent like Javon McKinley and Tommy Kraemer. That is a real testament to the direction this program is going in, and with some stellar recruiting classes on the horizon, the future has never been brighter in South Bend.

Overall, Tremble is in a perfect spot with the Panthers, and as a Day 2 draft pick, he is going to get every chance this summer to carve out a real role with the team. With his combination of athleticism, pass-catching ability, and blocking prowess, he is going to be an x-factor for the Panthers, who are looking to get on the right track as a franchise.
