The Notre Dame football program got an elite talent in Lorenzo Styles Jr., who could end up being a star for the Irish before all is said and done.

Going into the 2021 college football season, there is a lot to like about the Notre Dame football team on the offensive side of the ball. The Irish have an elite running back tandem in Chris Tyree and Kyren Williams, and their tight end could be one of the best in the country this season.

Upfront along the offensive line, they have All-Americans at the guard spots, and a true freshman ready to come in and start at left tackle in Blake Fisher. However, the wide receiver position could make a fan of the Irish cringe, especially with so many question marks as to who will start, and what the group could look like weekly.

Last season, the Irish made it work, as Ben Skowronek and Javon McKinley stepped up, but in 2021, new players must emerge atop the depth chart. One of those players could be a true freshman as well, as Lorenzo Styles Jr. is a big-time recruit who has superstar written all over him.

Styles Jr. comes to the Irish as a top-20 wide receiver in the country has blazing speed, and is one of the more physical wideouts as well. He can play in the slot, or on the outside, and you know Tommy Rees and his staff are going to find plenty of ways to get him in space.

When all is said and done, he could be in for a monster season in South Bend.

Notre Dame football has question marks at the wide receiver position

Styles Jr. is also entering the program at a perfect time for a wide receiver, as a lot of the guys above him on the depth chart right now are seniors, and should be gone after this season. Also, there are a lot of players who are still not established for the Irish at wide receiver, making the competition for a starting job open this summer.

If he can show he is ready, there is no reason he should not see the field early and often as a true freshman.

Overall, the Irish have a nice blend of returning wide receivers, and true freshmen, making this one of the more exciting position groups to watch this summer. Styles is coming to campus as a major recruit, and if he does play the field position, expect for him to get a lot of action early on, especially if Lenzy struggles to stay healthy once again.
