The Notre Dame football program will certainly see Kyle Hamilton selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but one mock has him falling.

The 2021 Notre Dame football team is going to be exciting to watch on the defensive side of the ball, as they have talent on all three levels. In the secondary, Kyle Hamilton returns as the best safety in all of college football, and someone who has the attention of the NFL in a big way leading into what could be his final season on campus.

Hamilton has proven pretty much all he can at the college level, but on an Irish team that is replacing a lot of talent, he will have to step up in an even bigger way in 2021. That should be no problem for him, and when all is said and done, he could end up being one of the first names called in the 2022 NFL Draft.

While many publications feel that will be the case, one recent mock draft does not even list him as a top-10 pick.

Notre Dame football star falls to No. 14 overall

In the latest way-too-early 2022 NFL Mock Draft over at Yardbarker.com, Seth Trachtman laid out what he believes the first round could look like next April. While many mock drafts have Hamilton in the top-10, and some even in the top-5, this writer believes that he will tumble down the first round rabbit hole.

Trachtman has Hamilton not only falling out of the top-10 but not being selected until pick No. 14 overall, where the Arizona Cardinals get an absolute steal. If Hamilton falls this far down in the first round, something will have had to come up, though we did see Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah fall to the second round after some medical issues popped up during the pre-draft process.

While it is always fun to look at these mock drafts and see where the Irish could end up, Hamilton falling to No. 14 overall seems like a major stretch at this point. Some believe he is one of the top-3 defensive players eligible for the 2022 NFL Draft, and with so many teams struggling within the secondary, passing up on a talent like him 13 times does not seem likely.
