Notre Dame Football 2021: 25 Most Impactful Players, No. 25-21

No. 21: Zeke Correll, Offensive Line

  • Best Ranking: 13
  • Worst Ranking: Unranked

Zeke Correll was a four-star prospect from Cincinnati, Ohio, and was the second-highest-graded player in Notre Dame’s 2019 recruiting class. Who was the one player ranked ahead of him? Just some guy named Kyle Hamilton.

Like most offensive linemen who commit to Notre Dame, Correll did not see much playing time during his first two seasons in South Bend. During his true freshman season, he appeared in four games but did not lose a year of eligibility due to a new NCAA rule.

In 2020, Correll was called into action after starting center Jarrett Patterson suffered a foot injury midway through the season. So Correll’s first career start was a road game in Chapel Hill against North Carolina, who was ranked in the top twenty at the time.

He performed admirably in that game and was part of an offensive effort that accounted for 478 total yards and 31 points.

Correll would have started more games for the Irish, but he suffered an ankle injury that kept him sidelined for the remainder of the regular season. However, he recovered in time to return to the starting lineup for Notre Dame’s game against Alabama in the College Football Playoff.

Heading into the 2021 season, Correll is projected to start at center as Jarrett Patterson has moved to offensive guard. Correll will play a crucial role in what will be an (almost) entirely new offensive line for Notre Dame.
