The Notre Dame football team takes on Toledo in Week 2, and here are three members of the Irish to keep an eye on in the matchup.

After escaping Doak Campbell Stadium with an overtime victory on the road, the Notre Dame football team will now head home to take on the Toledo Rockets. This is a game the Irish should win, as they are double-digit favorites, but as we saw in Week 1, anything can happen when it comes to college football.

There are some key Irish to keep an eye on against Toledo, and we look at three of them here.

Michael Carmody, Offensive Tackle

On Sunday night, Blake Fisher became only the fifth true freshman in the last 20 years to start along the offensive line at Notre Dame. Unfortunately, we will not be seeing Fisher for quite some time, as he was ruled out for the next eight weeks due to surgery he had to have on his meniscus.

In his place, Michael Carmody will get the chance to protect Jack Coan’s blindside on Saturday afternoon, and he is definitely someone to keep an eye on. Carmody looked solid this summer and picked up a huge blitz on Coan’s deep shot to Kevin Austin Jr., so while he is being pressed into duty, he has the size, strength, and ability to hold it down until Fisher returns.
