Notre Dame Football vs. Purdue: 4 bold predictions in Week 3

Brian Kelly Will Tie Knute Rockne for Most Wins All-Time at Notre Dame

With a win against Purdue, Brian Kelly will have won 105 games all-time while the head coach at Notre Dame. Only one other coach at Notre Dame has that many wins while in South Bend, Knute Rockne.

Yes, you will not hear the end of this story, and for good reason, because Brian Kelly has an opportunity to become the winningest coach in Notre Dame history. Kelly, who takes tons of criticism from fans, as he hasn’t managed to win a national championship and seems a step behind coaches like Nick Saban at times, will have earned a statue.

He will be a legend.

To this point, Kelly is the most underrated coach in Notre Dame history. He modernized the program, brought them back to relevance, and has made them a destination for recruits again. Three coaches before him failed, as the game shifted under Notre Dame’s feet. No major bowls and no national championship hurt, but please remember just how much Kelly has done for this program. He will retire its winningest coach. He will be a legend.

So, yeah, Notre Dame is winning this game. It won’t be easy. It’ll probably make fans less confident in the team as a whole in some way. There are, frankly, issues that need addressing. Still, the Irish are the better team and they can outscore Purdue. Brian Kelly will tie Knute Rockne.
