The Notre Dame football team has some easy sledding ahead of them in 2021, but can they run the table the rest of the way?

During their bye week, the Notre Dame football team has a lot to think about, this after starting the season out with a 5-1 record. Yes, their only loss has come at the hands of the No. 3 team in the nation, and it was a game they had opportunities in, but for the most part, this has been a roller coaster of a season.

There was the opening night thriller on the road against Florida State, a game that saw Jack Coan set the program record for passing yards in an opener. However, since then, it has been nailbiter after nailbiter, including nearly losing to Toledo. Overall, 5-1 at the break is solid, but there is a lot of work left to be done.

Notre Dame football should be favored the rest of the way

Looking ahead, the Irish should be favored in every game they play after the bye week, and while that does not mean a whole lot when it comes to some matchups, it is certainly a good thing. Notre Dame football does not play another ranked team this season, and while that could change later on, the schedule is not as tough as it was before the break.

Sure, there are a lot of things that have to be taken care of, like the offensive line struggling, and the musical chairs at quarterback, but the defense seems like it is peaking at the right time. With an extra week to get ready for USC, they should win that one, and from there, who knows how the rest of the season will play out.

If they can accomplish going undefeated the rest of the way, with how crazy the college football season has been, you have to think 11-1 is a very successful season. In fact, teams will be going into their conference championship games with at least one loss, so could a one-loss Notre Dame football team sneak into the CFP over a few two-loss teams?

Only time will tell, but all Brian Kelly and his team can do now is take each week as it comes, and start stacking wins.
