Notre Dame basketball: Men’s preview for the 2021-22 college season

Season Prediction

There were times last season where it looked like this Notre Dame basketball team was going to make a serious run to the NCAA Tournament, especially after bouncing back from an 0-5 start in ACC play. This is a collection of players that Brey can trust, and they should be able to run over some of the weaker teams on their schedule.

Of course, there are the usual suspects in the ACC that are going to be tough to beat, including UNC, Duke, Florida State, and Virginia, but the Irish should be able to get a couple of wins against those teams. The real issue will be standing out in what should be a tough ACC this season, though I believe a bunch of teams from the conference is going to make the big dance, including the Irish.

When all is said and done, I like the Irish to finally get back to the Big Dance, and based on experience and leadership, they are going to be a hard out. Every year, we see teams that have veteran players make big runs in the NCAA Tournament, and while this group has yet to play in the postseason, they should be fine with the game on the line in the biggest moments.

Final record: 18-12 record, NCAA Tournament appearance
