Notre Dame football: 3 reasonable expectations against Virginia in Week 11

Notre Dame scores 40-plus points

While the Virginia offense can be prolific at times, especially when it comes to the passing game, their defense has been nothing to write home about this season. In fact, that unit is coming off an absolute drubbing against BYU in a game that saw them allow 22 of their 66 points in the fourth quarter and nearly 400 yards rushing.

Against Notre Dame, they could have the same issues as they had against BYU, as the Irish have an elite running back room, and should be able to get chunk yardage against this defense. Notre Dame is a team that can beat you through the air if need be as well, as we saw in the opener against Florida State, so putting up 40 points could be a real possibility on Saturday night.

For the season, Virginia has allowed at least 35 points on four occasions, including the 66 against BYU, and 40 against Georgia Tech the week before. The Irish should be more potent on offense than both of those programs, which could make for a long night for this Cavaliers defense in front of the home crowd.
