The Notre Dame football team moved up one spot in the latest AP Poll, and it will be interesting to see how that affects the CFP rankings on Tuesday.

The Notre Dame football team dominated against the Virginia Cavaliers in Week 11, moving their record to 9-1 on the season, and showing the world they may not be out of the CFP picture just yet. The Irish have looked outstanding on defense over the past two games, not allowing a touchdown, and doing so without star safety Kyle Hamilton.

Early in the year, it looked as if the Irish would be nothing more than a 15-20th ranked team, but a lot has changed since revamping the offensive line for the Virginia Tech game. Kyren Williams has gone back to being one of the best backs in the country, the aforementioned defense has been stellar, and Jack Coan has been incredibly efficient.

The Irish have been turning some heads, and in the latest AP Poll, released on Sunday, the Irish jumped up one spot to No. 6 overall after the easy victory against Virginia on the road.

Notre Dame football playing at a high level down the stretch

It was really anybody’s guess as to how the Irish would finish out the 2021 season, as they barely got past the likes of Toledo and Florida State early on. But they have improved, and the young players on this roster are giving glimpses that the future is incredibly bright in South Bend.

The Irish have two very winnable games ahead of them on the schedule, and there is a real chance that they finish the 2021 college football season with an 11-1 record. The Irish are playing their best football to close out the season, beating down teams, and looking elite on defense, so there may be a chance for them to be one of the final four after all.
