The Notre Dame football team brought in a tremendous 2022 recruiting class, but it is just the beginning for Marcus Freeman and his staff.

The 2021 Early Signing Day is in the rearview mirror, and for the Notre Dame football team, it was a day with very little drama. Sure, Devin Moore flipped to Florida, and Amorion Walker decided on Michigan State, but for the most part, Marcus Freeman and his staff were able to get the bulk of the elite players they wanted.

The 2022 class was impressive, but it was also made up of players who committed to the team when Brian Kelly was the head coach, making the next recruiting cycle that much more exciting. The Irish did not have a five-star recruit in 2022, but they did rank No. 4 overall in Blue Chip percentage, so while they may not have gotten a five-star, they got plenty of elite talent.

Notre Dame football 2023 class ranked No. 1

It may be early, and there are so many top prospects who have yet to commit to the 2023 recruiting class, but you have to feel that Freeman and his staff are off to a fast start. They currently have the No. 1 overall recruiting class for the 2023 cycle per rivals.com, and now that Freeman is at the helm, you have to believe they will continue to stockpile talent.

After finishing the regular season with 11 wins, this after losing so much talent to the NFL, the Irish proved they have a lot of young talent remaining. A lot of the key players from the 2021 squad will be returning next season, and when you consider what the true freshmen did in 2021, and the talent coming in, you have to think this has the potential to be a College Football Playoff contender.

Notre Dame football is a premium program, and with Freeman at the helm, they will get into the top-5 in terms of recruiting classes every year. There are holes on the roster heading into the offseason, but with this class coming in, and the transfer portal, you have to think the Irish will have an elite team on the field by the time they take on Ohio State in Week 1.
