The Notre Dame football team has fans all over the globe, but where did the fan base rank for the 2021 college football season?

Every year, we see rankings come out in terms of who the best fan bases are, and every year, we take a look at where the Notre Dame football faithful rank. There is no doubt that the Irish have one of the biggest followings in all of sports, as their fans span the globe, and live and breathe the Blue and Gold.

When it comes to the national media, the Notre Dame football program is always front and center, and there is nothing better for college football than when the Irish are one of the dominant teams in the country.

Notre Dame football fans ranked No. 15 overall

In the list, put together by Chris Peterson from SaturdayBlitz.com, the Irish fan base did not crack the top-10. In fact, they did not come close, coming in at No. 15 overall, this was due to the team not filling their stadium at times in 2021 according to the piece.

Though the Irish do not play in the SEC, and may not fill stadiums as much as some other programs do, they are still a top-10 fan base, at least. The Irish have a chance to change their big-game narrative in the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday, and you can be sure that fans from all over the world will be tuning in to see their beloved Irish take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the big stage.

To put these rankings into perspective, the top-5 fan bases according to Peterson were LSU (5), Ohio State (4), Georgia (3), Michigan (2), and Alabama at No. 1 overall. Three of those schools play the SEC, and two are big-time rivals in the Big Ten, while all of them play in stadiums that have more capacity than Notre Dame Stadium.
