The Notre Dame football team brought back Harry Hiestand to be their offensive line coach in 2022, and he has some elite talent to work with.

During his last run with the Notre Dame football team, Harry Hiestand was a legend, producing some of the best offensive linemen to come out of the program. Hiestand helped develop incredible players such as Quenton Nelson, Mike McGlinchey, and Zack Martin to name a few, culminating with him leading his group to win the Joe Moore Award in 2017.

On Friday, it was announced that head coach Marcus Freeman would be bringing Hiestand back as the team’s offensive line coach, an incredible get for the new head coach of the Irish. There is no doubt that Hiestand is the gold standard in terms of offensive line coaches, and he has an incredible group to mold starting next season.

Notre Dame football stacked with offensive line talent

First, Hiestand has two, young and talented offensive tackles to help become potential first-round draft picks down the line. Blake Fisher was named the starting left tackle as a true freshman, but was hurt in Week 1, though he did manage to come back and join the team in the Fiesta Bowl, moving to right tackle.

Fisher moved to right tackle due to the emergence of Joe Alt, another true freshman who came in and became an anchor for this offensive line late in the season.

Incoming true freshman Aamil Wagner is one of the best offensive tackles in the country, and there is also Rocco Spindler, a 2021 recruit who some believe could be one of the best offensive guards in the country next season.

Ty Chan was rated the best offensive tackle in the state of Massachusetts by 247Sports, and Joey Tanona and Billy Schrauth are two four-star prospects who figure to excel once they get to campus as well.

Jarrett Patterson has yet to announce whether or not he will return in 2022, but the addition of Hiestand may sway him back to South Bend, as it could significantly improve his draft status. Hiestand was another huge hire for the Freeman era, and you can be sure some of the players on this roster will find themselves selected in the first round in a few years.
