Notre Dame football: 3 offensive players who need to be great in 2022

Braden Lenzy, Wide Receiver

The Notre Dame football team got some good news in terms of those players with eligibility remaining who were also eligible for the 2022 NFL Draft over the past month. Stars like the Ademilola brothers, Isaiah Foskey, and Bo Bauer are returning on defense, with playmakers like Braden Lenzy and Avery Davis returning to the wide receiver group.

The key here, in my opinion, is going to be Lenzy, who has to mold into that WR1 role, and help in the continued development of Lorenzo Styles Jr. The Irish are expected to be a balanced offense in 2022, especially with a young group taking over for Williams at running back, as well as an elite tight end in Michael Mayer.

Overall, the wide receiver group may not have a ton of depth in numbers, but it is not short on talent. Lenzy is going to have to step into the role left vacant by Kevin Austin Jr. going to the NFL, and if he is not ready to take on that role, either Styles or Davis will have to do so.
