The Notre Dame football team is building something special for the 2023 recruiting class, and there is even more talent on the horizon.

In his first recruiting cycle as head coach of the Notre Dame football program, Marcus Freeman is having his presence felt on a national level. He is downright dominating so far, landing blue-chip prospect after blue-chip prospect, building one of the more impressive classes for the 2023 recruiting cycle.

Recently, Chris Peterson from SaturdayBlitz.com put out a list of the top-5 teams who have gotten out to the hottest start in terms of recruiting for the 2023 cycle, and the Irish were listed. In fact, holding the No. 1 class per 247Sports.com, the Notre Dame football team landed at No. 2 on his list, just behind USC.

The Irish 2023 class is led by Keon Keeley, a top-10 player in the entire country, and one who is getting offers everywhere. He is slated to visit Florida next weekend, as the SEC makes a play for his services, and it is going to take a total effort by Freeman and his staff to keep him, Irish.

The fact that the Trojans and Irish are off to the two hottest starts in recruiting for 2023 makes their storied rivalry one that could get to the next level next season and beyond.

Notre Dame football could land an elite QB this cycle

Another huge name to keep an eye on is Dante Moore, a five-star quarterback in 2023, and the best player in the state of Michigan. The Irish were recently given a Crystal Ball prediction that he would be landing in South Bend, which would push this recruiting class over the top.

Last season, Moore threw for over 3,000 yards to go along with his 40 touchdown passes, leading King High School to their fifth state title.

Overall, these are the kinds of recruiting classes that help the Irish bridge the gap between them and the Alabama and Georgias of the world. Landing Moore would be a possible program-changing commitment, setting them up at quarterback for the foreseeable future.
