The Notre Dame basketball team will be glued to the television tonight, as they wait to see who they play in the quarterfinals of the Men’s ACC Tournament.

The 2022 Men’s ACC Tournament kicked off on Tuesday, but due to the fact that the Notre Dame basketball team was one of the best in the conference this year, they got to sit out the first two rounds. Now, they will sit back and watch the second round, as the Virginia Tech Hokies take on the Clemson Tigers tonight inside Barclay’s Center.

For the Irish, this is a matchup of two teams they played during the regular season, though they had much more success against Clemson. Virginia Tech was able to beat the Irish at home back on January 15, their only loss in an 11-game stretch.

Against Clemson, Notre Dame went 2-0, including a 15-point victory on the road last month. If they could have their way, the Tigers advancing in this one would be the best-case scenario. For those interested in watching tonight, below is all the information you need.

Here is how you can catch the action tonight inside Barclay’s Center.

When: Wednesday, March 9, 2022

Notre Dame basketball locked down No. 2 seed

The Irish went 22-9 during the regular season, which is incredible considering they started the season out with a 3-4 record. From that point, the Irish went 19-5, beating big-time programs in the process, including the Kentucky Wildcats in Blake Wesley’s first start of his collegiate career.

Wesley would go on to become one of the best freshmen in the country, earning second-team All-ACC honors as a true freshman. Had it not been for Duke’s Paolo Banchero, he would have been the conference’s Rookie of the Year.

The Irish have a legitimate shot to make it to the finals of the ACC Tournament this season, and possibly win it all, improving their seeding in March Madness down the line. Notre Dame basketball has had an outstanding season in 2021-22, but they still have a lot of work to do.
