The Notre Dame football team saw Kevin Austin Jr. dominate at the 2022 NFL Combine, and his draft status rose in the process.

The 2022 NFL Combine was a roller coaster for the Notre Dame football program, as the Irish started out strong on Day 1 of the on-field workouts. The Day 1 schedule featured the quarterbacks, tight ends, and wide receivers, which meant Jack Coan and Kevin Austin Jr. would get their chances to impress the coaches and scouts.

Both men did exactly that, as Coan blew people away with his arm strength and accuracy, and Austin Jr. not only showed he has tremendous hands, but that he has blazing speed as well. He had to battle through adversity during his collegiate career, but stepped up in a big way in 2021, racking up nearly 900 yards, and getting the invite to the Combine.

Now, after a strong week in Indianapolis, Austin Jr. is not only a legitimate draft prospect but one that could be gone by the time Day 3 kicks off. For those who do not know, Day 3 is Rounds 4, 5, 6, and 7.

Notre Dame football star made a statement at the 2022 NFL Combine

After not being seen as even a Day 3 pick, Austin Jr. put on a show at the 2022 NFL Combine, and in a recent 2022 NFL Mock Draft over at Pro Football Network, Ian Cummings had him skyrocketing into Day 2. In fact, he lands with a legend in Green Bay, as the Packers select him with the No. 92 overall pick in the third round.

Landing in Green Bay would be an excellent spot for Austin Jr., as the team not only locked up Aaron Rodgers on a long-term extension on Tuesday, but also placed the franchsie tag on Davante Adams. That means Austin Jr. would get to not only catch passes from a first-ballot Hall of Famer to start his NFL career, but also learn behind arguably the best wideout in football right now.

On the flip side, Kyren Williams once seen as a legitimate Day 2 pick, fell all the way to Day 3 in this mock draft, landing with the Carolina Panthers at pick No. 198 overall. The Panthers have been rumored to be taking calls for Christian McCaffrey, so maybe this ends up being a perfect spot for him.
