The Notre Dame football team has ten days of spring practice in the books, and one thing is for sure, Audric Estime needs to play a big role on offense.

Going into next season, the Notre Dame football team is looking for someone to come in and fill the shoes of running back Kyren Williams. The star running back for the Irish posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons before declaring early for the 2022 NFL Draft.

Now, the Irish look to turn the page, and they have more than enough talent remaining to do just that. Many feel that Logan Diggs will get the starting nod this season, as he was the RB2 to Williams this past year, but another true sophomore is certainly staking his claim this offseason.

In fact, since landing in South Bend, former St. Joseph (NJ) Regional High School star Audric Estime has impressed with his work ethic, size, and speed, and is a breakout candidate for the Irish this season. He looks the part, plays with incredible passion, and if this spring is any indication, he is ready to take on a big role in this Irish offense.

Is Notre Dame football going two-headed monster at RB?

With Diggs showing last season that he can be a special back in the run and passing game, his role on the offense is set in stone. Offensive coordinator Tommy Rees knows he can rely on him, so you can expect a fantastic career for the young running back with the Irish.

However, Estime has to play a major role on this offense next season, especially in short-yardage and red zone opportunities. He is a freak athlete, possessing the speed to run around a defender, and the size to run over them, so getting him the ball has to be a priority for Rees in 2022.

The truth is, these two players came in together in the same recruiting class, and they certainly could be a two-headed monster at running back for Rees in 2022. Estime was the best player in the state of New Jersey two years ago, and for the Irish, he could end up being their best running back this season.
