The Notre Dame football team may have had only two players taken in the 2022 NFL Draft, but you can expect the Irish to dominate in 2023.

After Notre Dame football star safety was drafted with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, we would not hear from the program for quite some time. In fact, there was no other first-round pick from the Irish program, nor a Day 2 pick, as Kyren Williams would be the next Notre Dame football star off the board.

Williams was selected with the No. 164 overall pick, a pick that the Los Angeles Rams went up to get him with. For Williams, it was a shaky draft season, as he was seen as a top running back early on, but ended up falling to Day 3 due to his 40-yard dash time at the Combine, and worries about his game.

In 2023, the narrative surrounding the Irish will change in the NFL Draft, as the program is expected to dominate throughout.

Notre Dame football should have multiple first-round picks

When all is said and done, Notre Dame football could see multiple players selected in the first round, as they have guys who should be top-2 candidates at certain position groups going into the next draft season. Isaiah Foskey is likely to be a top defensive end, and when it comes to tight end Michael Mayer, you can expect him to be the first player off the board at his position.

Safety Brandon Joseph could make it two safeties in the first round in a row, as he has the talent to come in and dominate in South Bend this season. Overall, Cam Hart could move up into the first-round conversation as well, and center Jarrett Patterson could be the No. 1-ranked interior offensive lineman coming out.

Notre Dame football may not have had a huge showing in this year’s draft, but they are going to be well-represented across the three-day event next year. This is a program that ended a first-round drought with Kyle Hamilton this year, and in 2023, the first round could look very Irish when all is said and done.
