Notre Dame football: 3 offensive players who could surprise in 2022

No. 1: Jayden Thomas, WR

One of the bigger question marks on this Notre Dame offensive going into next season is wide receiver as a whole, as there are not too many bodies at the position. Sure, there is some elite talent there, with Lorenzo Styles Jr. breaking out in 2021, and Avery Davis and Braden Lenzy returning, but outside of that, players are going to have to step up.

This spring, Jayden Thomas has proven that he is ready to take the next step in Year 2 on campus, and will play a big role in the passing game this season. He was a four-star recruit coming out of high school and has the playmaking ability that could move him way up the depth chart before all is said and done.

Notre Dame football should be explosive on offense at times, and Thomas is someone who must be accounted for when he is on the football field. Of all the true sophomores on this roster, he could end up taking the biggest step forward, and that would do a lot for a position group that is lacking in numbers right now.
