The Notre Dame football team has some exciting players in the secondary, and in 2022, cornerback Cam Hart has to play like a first-round pick.

Last season, the Notre Dame football program saw the emergence of Cam Hart at the cornerback position. Entering the starting lineup, Hart not only proved that he belonged as a starter but showed that he has the skill set to be a shutdown guy at the collegiate level.

Heading into the 2022 college football season, there are high expectations for this Notre Dame football team, especially on defense, and Hart is in the middle of all of it. He is a big part of a secondary that has a bunch of veterans in it, and in the defensive backfield, he has to emerge as a leader.

Starting in Week 1, the Irish are going to play some elite quarterbacks this upcoming season, and Hart, alongside his other secondary members, have to be on top of their game. If he can play like a first-round pick, which is starting to get some buzz, the Irish could have two players in their secondary that will hear their names called on night No. 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft.

That would go a long way in the Irish doing something special in 2022.

Notre Dame football loaded with first-round talent

Looking at the roster heading into the 2022 campaign, Notre Dame football could have as many as five first-round picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, including Hart. Michael Mayer is expected to be a top-10 pick, and guys like Isaiah Foskey, Jarrett Patterson, and Brandon Joseph have all been thought of as top players at their specific position group.

In Hart, we see a player who is on the doorstep of being a legitimate superstar cornerback for this program, and both he and Clarence Lewis need to take another step forward in 2022. If they can do that, especially with the pass rush the Irish should have, the Irish should be able to win the turnover battle.
