Notre Dame football: Recruiting continues to flourish into July
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame football program is putting together elite classes for 2023 and 2024, as recruiting continues to flourish under Marcus Freeman.
The Notre Dame football program has long been one of the best in college football, consistently putting together winning seasons, and making a few College Football Playoff runs. However, they have not been able to win the big games, or recruit with the likes of Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State to name a few.
That has made it very hard for them to win on the highest of levels, as teams like the above-mentioned seem to have talent that is one step above what the Notre Dame football team trots out there. Sure, the Irish have elite players every year, but some of these powerhouse programs have NFL prospects at every position group, making it very difficult to compete for four quarters.
While that has been the case, that narrative is about to change in a big way, as new head coach Marcus Freeman and his staff are putting together elite classes for the 2023 and 2024 cycles. Right now, the Irish hold the No. 1 class for both years, a testament to what this group has been doing on the recruiting trail.
Notre Dame football continues elite recruiting run in July
Recently, Chris Peterson of SaturdayBlitz.com put together a list of the six schools that are dominating recruiting in July. The Irish already were named when he put together his June list, and they do not seem to be slowing down at all.
On Friday, the program added wideout Jaden Greathouse, moving past Ohio State for the No. 1 class for the 2023 cycle, and Freeman and company have their eyes set on more elite talent over the next few months. Times are changing in South Bend, and just squeaking in with a top-10 class is no longer the goal, Freeman and his staff have this program recruiting at the highest of levels.
Many felt that Freeman was the right choice when he took over as head coach, and they have been right, as he continues to raise the bar in terms of his recruiting. Based on the article, LSU is having the best July, and we know who the head coach is there, but for the Irish, they have to be happy BK is in the Bayou.
