Notre Dame football 2022 Fall camp position preview: Quarterback

Who is New?

One of the key recruits for the Irish during the 2022 cycle was Bergen Catholic quarterback Steve Angeli. Arguably the best quarterback to come out of the state of New Jersey in 2022, Angeli played in a powerhouse conference at BC, playing the likes of national powers Don Bosco and St. Joseph Regional, Audric Estime’s alma mater.

The New Jersey pipeline is alive and well for the Irish, and in Angeli, we got a chance to see what he could do in front of the Irish faithful. Angeli was the star of the Blue-Gold Game, leading his team to victory, and by far looking like the best quarterback on the field that day.

Behind both Buchner and Pyne, it is going to be tough for Angeli to crack the starting lineup, or even see significant playing time. However, neither Buchner nor Pyne have taken control of the starting job, and with a strong summer, Angeli could move up the depth chart in a big way.
