The Notre Dame football team will put the loss to Ohio State in the rearview mirror, heading home to take on the Marshall Thundering Herd on Saturday.

The Notre Dame football team took on the No. 2 team in the country in Week 1, losing to the Ohio State Buckeyes by a score of 21-10. The Irish actually were in control of the game for the entire first half, and well into the third quarter before the wheels fell off late.

Now, they will look to get their season back on track at home, as they head back to South Bend to take on Marshall in Week 2.

In his two games as the head coach of the Notre Dame football team, Marcus Freeman has gotten his team out to solid starts. The problem has been the team playing at a high level for four quarters, something that has to be the goal against a Thundering Herd team that the Irish should pummel inside Notre Dame Stadium.

The truth is, this is going to be a cakewalk for the Irish, who are looking to get back on track in a big way in front of the home fans. Marshall is nowhere near as talented as Notre Dame football is, and coming off a tough loss in primetime, the Irish are going to be playing with a bit of a chip on their shoulder.

Notre Dame football got solid play from true sophomore Tyler Buchner, making his first collegiate start against Ohio State on the road, so the expectation is a big game from him on Saturday afternoon. The running backs will have to get it going after a sub-par performance in Columbus, but against this Marshall defense, that is likely to happen as well.

Marshall does come into this game at 1-0, this after beating an FCS school in Norfolk State back on September 3. In that game, both Ethan Payne and Khalan Laborn rushed for over 100 yards, as the Thundering Herd got out to a 38-0 halftime lead.

Notre Dame presents way more issues for Marshall than Norfolk State did, and with the Irish being huge favorites on Saturday, head coach Marcus Freeman is likely staring win No. 1 of his head coaching career right in the face.
