Notre Dame football vs Marshall: Best Bets for the Irish in Week 2
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame football team takes on Marshall in Week 2, and here are the best bets you can lay on the Irish in this matchup.
The Notre Dame football team will play their home opener in Week 2, as the Irish return to Notre Dame Stadium looking for win No. 1 on the young season. In their last outing, the Irish battled it out against No. 2 Ohio State, leading at halftime before losing late inside Ohio Stadium.
Now, they head home to take on the Marshall Thundering Herd, a team that is fresh off a solid victory over Norfolk State in Week 1. In that game, the Marshall run game ran wild, as two players went over 100 yards against an FCS school that was outnumbered from the start.
In Week 2, Marshall will have a much harder time running the football, as the Irish have numerous NFL talents on the defensive side of the ball. Notre Dame football will also look to get their identity solidified on offense in this one, as Tyler Buchner and the offense sputtered after a strong start to the Week 1 matchup against Ohio State.
So how should you bet on this game? Let us take a look.
Best Notre Dame football Bets Week 2
Our friends over at BetSided feel that you should roll with the Irish giving the points in this one, as the expectation is that they will win by at least three touchdowns. Over at FanDuel Sportsbook, if you bet $5 on the Irish after signing up, you will receive $150 in free bets no matter if they win or lose, which is an outstanding promotion.
One other bet to take a look at is the first touchdown scorer, as you get +550 odds if tight end Michael Mayer finds the end zone first. The Irish offense revolves around their first-round tight end, and if they get into the red zone on the first drive, look for Buchner to target Mayer.
The Irish should roll in this matchup, so giving only 20.5 points seems a like a small number when you consider the talent disparity between these two programs. Marshall does have some talented players as well and could hang in early on, but in the end, look for win No. 1 as Notre Dame football head coach for Marcus Freeman.
