The Notre Dame football team takes on UNLV in Week 8, and the Rebels could once again be without their star quarterback, Doug Brumfield.

The Notre Dame football team has a get-right game ahead of them on Saturday, as they take on the UNLV Rebels inside Notre Dame Stadium. From a talent perspective, this game should be all-Irish, but as we have seen with this team this season, anything can happen when this Notre Dame football team hits the field.

For UNLV,  beating the Irish will be a tall task, as their offense has looked lifeless without star quarterback Doug Brumfield at the helm the past few games. Brumfield is a do-everything signal-caller for the Rebels who can hurt you with his arm, and his legs, so him not being available is certainly a huge advantage for the Irish.

Andy Yamashita from the Las Vegas Review-Journal tweeted out on Monday that Brumfield is still in concussion protocol.

Prior to his injury, the Rebels offense had been quite impressive with Brumfield leading the way, as he tossed eight touchdowns against only two interceptions, and had five rushing scores. They had put up 50-plus points twice, and had scored at least 31 in all four of their early-season victories.

Notre Dame football should throttle UNLV regardless

We will have to wait until later in the week to see if Brumfield will miss another game, but even if he is in the lineup, the Irish should be able to take care of the Rebels. This is a Notre Dame team playing at home with a chip on their shoulder after the loss to Stanford, a loss that was shocking after being a huge favorite going into it.

Brumfield is a solid player, and will put up numbers if he is in the lineup Saturday afternoon, but regardless, Notre Dame football should be on a mission in this one. If he does not play, you can expect a major rout for the Irish, as they move past the .500 mark for the season.
