While Sam Hartman is the man for Notre Dame football in 2023, a 4-star quarterback prospect is showing why the Fighting Irish are set for the future.

While Sam Hartman is busy putting together a heck of a 2023 campaign for Notre Dame football, he’s only here for one season. The Fighting Irish are going to have to forge a future without him.

There is a chance that the Golden Domers could ford next season with another stop gap, someone like Riley Leonard. Or they could turn to one of the top quarterback recruits Marcus Freeman and company have landed in the last few years.

It certainly looks like one of those recruits, CJ Carr is the real deal. And he showed it again last weekend.

Carr, a 6-3, 195-pounder from the class of 2024, led Saline (Mich.) high school to a 43-7 win over Ann Arbor (Mich.) Huron High School. In the romp, Carr completed 25 of 31 for 339 yards and four touchdown passes. You can watch him dominate the competition right here:

During that blowout win, Carr threw touchdown passes of 32, 32, 22 and 16 yards. In doing so, the 4-star prospect with offers from Power 5 bigwigs like Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Michigan showed off why Notre Dame football is excited about the high schooler eventually coming to South Bend.

Notre Dame football has a good one

CJ Carr is just one of many prospects that are making the future of Notre Dame football look extremely bright, even if they don’t haul in transfer players like Hartman or Leonard.

The Irish currently have the 8th best class in 2024, according to 247Sports. They are hanging with guys that normally blow the competition away when it comes to talent being reeled in. Carr is just one of thoe guys that could turn into a real weapon rather quickly.

Of course, Carr is going to need to prove himself quickly, because the Notre Dame football commit for the 2025 cycle, Deuce Knight, is considered the best in his class.
