Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish star was key to the Carolina Panthers winning their first game of the 2023 season as they improved to 1-6.

Tommy Tremble didn’t exactly have an explosive game for the Carolina Panthers, but the former Notre Dame Fighting Irish star had the catch that allowed the formerly winless Panthers to get their first victory.

Tremble has been that guy all season long. He doesn’t put up huge numbers, but when he does record a number, it tends to have an impact. Against the Houston Texans on Sunday, Tremble had just two catches for four yards and a touchdown.

It was that touchdown catch that ended up contributing to Carolina’s 15-13 win. It’s the second time this season that Tremble had less than five yards receiving on the game, but got a touchdown. Against the Detroit Lions, the former Notre Dame Football star had one catch for a touchdown.

It certainly seems as though Tremble has quite the specialty in the NFL.

  • Tremble wasn’t the only former Notre Dame Football star who made the most of limited playing time. In fact, that seemed to be the theme of former Fighting Irish players on Sunday. Benny Skowronek only logged one catch with the Los Angeles Rams against the Dallas Cowboys. However, that one catch went for 20 yards and a touchdown. However, unlike Tremble, his catch didn’t help the Rams win as they got throttled by “America’s Team.”
  • The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Women’s Basketball team held its final warmup before the regular season. And they absolutely romped on Monday night. The Irish beat Purdue Northwestern 110-48. Suffice it to say that they are warmed up and ready to make another run to and through the NCAA Tournament.
  • One of the really impressive things the Notre Dame Fighting Irish media department does is put together great videos. There’s now another really fun video to watch showing the 82-yards return by Chris Tyree. Watch it below.
