The Notre Dame Football team has officially put to bed any talk about the Irish staying away from the transfer portal this offseason.

Who will be the starting quarterback for Notre Dame Football when Sam Hartman’s reign is over? It appears that he will be yet another mercenary quarterback geared up to lead them to the promised land.

Earlier this season, Irish head coach Marcus Freeman talked about the possibility of getting a quarterback for next season in the portal. At the time, he said he and the coaches would talk about it and decide over the team’s second bye week.

That bye week has come and gone and the decision has been made. During his first press conference of Wake Forest game week, he said Notre Dame Football will be on the lookout for a transfer quarterback.

Now the question is just where will they look?

There are already some interesting possibilities, though it’s obviously still very early. Tulane quarterback Michael Pratt is expected to enter the portal when it opens on December 4.

Like Hartman before him, Pratt will likely be right at the top of the list of transfer quarterbacks. There are other guys like NC State quarterback MJ Morris who appear ready to enter the portal, even if they haven’t made an official announcement yet.

Notre Dame Football will have their pick

There is one name that Notre Dame fans are almost certainly going to be looking to bring to South Bend. Riley Leonard has been a top target for months now. And so far there’s no real indication he’s leaving Duke.

It is expected that Blue Devils head coach Mike Elko will leave though. Once he does, it’s just a matter of whether Leonard will follow him, or go it alone.

Once the regular season is over, that’s when things are going to get really interesting. Especially because Notre Dame Football is also bringing in a very good quarterback from the high school ranks in CJ Carr.
