Ex-Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz was once again all over social media after Ryan Day’s Ohio State squad lost to Michigan again.

Most college football followers know that earlier this year, Ryan Day and Lou Holtz had one of the weirder feuds around. On Saturday afternoon, that feud didn’t exactly get reignited, but it certainly took center stage again.

This time around, the feud didn’t trend on social media because the legendary Notre Dame football coach said something that upset Day. It wasn’t trending because Day said something that was rather offensive to Fighting Irish fans.

This time, Lou Holtz was trending because some Notre Dame fans enjoyed watching Ohio State and their coach lost to Michigan again and bring up his grandstanding and peacocking when the Buckeyes narrowly defeated the Golden Domers earlier this season.

It’s not all that often that Notre Dame and Michigan fans are banding together. Especially in a season when the Wolverines are caught cheating and stealing signs (including the Irish’s signs) and their coach has to be suspended. However, on Saturday evening, the two groups did seemingly partner up.

Ragging on Ryan Day and using Lou Holtz to do it was simply too attractive an opportunity for everyone.

Some of the memes that popped up on social media were relatively low key. Some might even say mild.

Other Notre Dame football fans were quick to point out that when Holtz questioned Ohio State’s toughness, it appears that he was right.

Other social media users just enjoyed making fun of the situation, OSU’s loss to Michigan for the third straight year, and pointing out that the feud existed at all.

Even Michigan Wolverines players were taking shots at Day’s players in a way that seemed to agree with the former Notre Dame football head coach.
