Analyst marvels at Notre Dame football fans complaing about 9 wins
One analyst finds it rather odd that Notre Dame football fans are made about the Irish ‘only’ winning nine games in the regular season.
Notre Dame football fans entered the 2023 campaign hoping that the Fighting Irish might contend for the College Football Playoffs. For a brief moment in time, they looked like a title contender when they took Ohio State down to the wire.
They looked like they might be able to get back there even with a loss to the Buckeyes after they beat Duke. Then things went sideways and the title hopes were dashed when they lost to Louisville.
New Years Six bowl hopes were ended when they lost to Clemson. And even wins over Wake Forest and Stanford couldn’t wash the taste of wasted hopes and dreams out of their mouths.
What those wins did do is put the Notre Dame football team in position to get 10 wins. Generally considered a rather impressive mark for any program, there are still fans that are calling the season disappointing.
There’s been plenty of talk about whether or not Sam Hartman was a disappointment. Whether he had a bad season.
Notre Dame football expectations might have been too high
One media personality, who just happens to be a Notre Dame alum is blown away that there is a discussion at all. Mike Golic Jr, who knows a thing or two about football and also knows a thing or two about the Fighting Irish took to social media on Sunday to voice his dismay at the complaints on what could be a season most other teams would envy.
“I’ve lived long enough to see Notre Dame fans complaining about a 9 win regular season mama we made it”
After posting his initial comment, Golic had to get into it with more than a few fans. His point still stands. The analyst believes that Notre Dame football fans are a bit spoiled at this point. Here’s hoping his message carries some weight.
