Notre Dame and Miami have been notorious rivals throughout the years, but it seemed like it all came to a head this past season. Miami took home the win during the season and also beat out Notre Dame for the final College Football Playoff spot, and the Irish are ready to move on.

However, it seems Notre Dame is seeing Miami a lot on the recruiting trail, as many top recruits have both programs in their sights, like four-star safety Zayden Gamble. The No. 16 safety in the Class of 2027 has narrowed down his top four schools to Florida, Ohio State, Miami, and Notre Dame.

4-star safety Zayden Gamble sets official visits with top four schools

Gamble has official visits set with each of the four schools, with Florida, Miami, and Notre Dame leading the way. Notre Dame will be the final official visit for Gamble, saving the best for last, it seems.

Notre Dame and Miami are set to square off during the 2026 season in November, but it seems like they are battling each other already when it comes to recruits in the Class of 2027. Gamble is not the first recruit to have Notre Dame and Miami in his top schools, and while the Hurricanes have had some wins, so have the Irish.

Head coach Marcus Freeman has worked hard at building the 2027 recruiting class even mroe it gets busier before June official visits. Freeman already has nine commits in the recruiting class, ranking it as the No. 5 class in the country, according to 247Sports. Freeman has yet to land a five-star recruit, but he does have five four-star recruits and could add his sixth with Gamble.
