There's no love lost between the Notre Dame football team and Miami. After losing head-to-head to the Hurricanes and then missing the playoffs while the 'Canes made it to the National Title game, it's safe to say Marcus Freeman and Co. aren't fans. Now the crew from South Bend is hoping to kick sand in Mario Cristobal's face by flipping a talented player in Jaylyn Jones, who is currently committed to the school in Coral Gables.Â
Rivals' Mike Singer reported on Thursday evening that Jones will take a visit to South Bend this weekend. While the 4-star safety has been committed to Miami since last summer, it looks like he wants to make sure that he's going to the right school.Â
As Singer pointed out, the Irish are looking to make a move and drive a wedge between the Hollywood, Florida prospect and the Hurricanes.
Notre Dame football will host Miami commit Jaylyn Jones for a key 2027 visit
Notre Dame obviously has its work cut out for itself with Jaylyn Jones. However, it's clear that the Fighting Irish are on an incredible run when it comes to the 2027 recruiting class.Â
They just landed the commitment of one of the best running backs in the class (Lathan Whisenton), and now want to lock down yet another top-of-the-line defensive back.
Even if Jones wasn't rated as highly as he was, it feels like the Irish might kick the tires on someone like a defensive back. The team has had some recruiting rivalries in the past with Penn State, Notre Dame would love to have some bragging rights by taking away a kid who has been committed since last June.
