It's safe to say that Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame simply can't be stopped out on the recruiting trail right now. Things just managed to get even better, as 5-star defensive lineman David Folorunsho gave Freeman and Co. the news they were hoping for, announcing his commitment to the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame takes down Miami for 5-star DT commit David Folorunsho

This was a monster get for Notre Dame, as Folorunsho picked up 35 offers throughout his recruitment and he was down to Notre Dame, Miami, Texas Tech, Georgia and Michigan. As soon as he revealed he was going to be Notre Dame-bound, there was major relief for the fanbase. Things were made even better, though, as the new Irish commit didn't hesitate in sending a passionate message to people who will be ready to watch him put on a show in South Bend.

“A player with the most tenacity, who gives the most effort on every down,” Folorunsho said on what Notre Dame fans can expect from him. “And I’m going to be there for my teammates.”

Notre Dame landing 5-star DL David Folorunsho is a massive win for Marcus Freeman

So, right after making one of the biggest decisions of his life, Folorunsho was quick to let Notre Dame supporters know that he's always going to play with tenacity and that he's going to give Coach Freeman everything he has on each down? Yeah, this kid is already winning over plenty of hearts on campus and it's easy to see why.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Folorunsho is ranked five stars, the No. 3 defensive lineman in the country and No. 43 prospect nationally for the entire 2027 class. In the end, this seemed like it was a two-team battle between the Irish and Miami. So, what helped Freeman get things over the line instead of Mario Cristobal?

“Just the environment,” Folorunsho said on why he picked Notre Dame. “They felt like family the first time I was on campus. It was a dream to get that Notre Dame offer. When I got it, it was unbelievable, so just getting recruited by them was a blessing. I knew what I had to do.”

In his heart, Folorunsho knew that he belonged with Notre Dame and now he'll be hoping to make an immediate impact once the fall of '27 gets here. With the 6-3, 280-pounder now on board with Notre Dame, Freeman is up to 17 commits for the '27 haul, which is ranked No. 3 in the country by 247Sports. This breaking news comes right after 5-star offensive tackle Oluwasemilore Olubobola also committed to ND. Yup, Freeman is on a heater and there are no signs of him slowing down.
