Auburn fans might be about to have something in common with Notre Dame supporters

Auburn thought it stole away Notre Dame football's top recruit, but now it looks like they have to worry about holding on.

Notre Dame football fans have something in common with Auburn Tiger backers. They know what it’s like to worry about quarterback commit Deuce Knight pulling a switcheroo.

While the 4-star quarterback hasn’t been a commit to the Tigers long, Hugh Freeze and company worked for months to pull him away from the Fighting Irish.

Of course, the other team that was working to get Knight away from the Notre Dame football program was Ole Miss. It looks like Lane Kiffin is still working on the quarterback, considering he was in the Sip for the Rebels’ big upset win over Georgia. Based on one video on social media, Knight liked what he saw.

Notre Dame Football can point and laugh at Auburn’s latest struggles

While the Irish have moved on from Knight and almost certainly aren’t looking to get back on that rollercoaster, Auburn needs the talented signal-caller to stick. But the video showing him rush the field with Ole Miss fans after the victory over Georgia can’t feel good for War Eagle.

Freeman wasted no time in filling Knight’s spot in his recruiting class, stealing one away from Clemson in the form of Blake Hebert. Does Freeze have a backup plan? Assuming he keeps his job after this season.

Knight is obviously very talented. ND would have loved to have kept him in the fold. But at this point, he’s someone else’s headache. And it’s clear that for the moment, Notre Dame football fans can feel just a little pity for Auburn faithful as they wait and wonder if the Mississippi native sticks with his commitment this time.
