Notre Dame dealt with former head coach Brian Kelly for 12 seasons from 2010 to 2021 before he decided to leave the Fighting Irish for the LSU Tigers. While Kelly did a lot of great things at Notre Dame, including taking the team to a BCS National Championship, things did not end in the greatest manner.
Kelly wasn't fired, but he stated his reason for leaving was that he would have more resources and be in an environment to win a National Championship. Well, last we checked, Notre Dame has been in more National Championships since Kelly left than LSU has, and even though the Fighting Irish lost in that game, there is real belief they can make it back and win it all.
While Notre Dame had a rough start to the season with two losses out of the gate, the Fighting Irish have been able to roar back on a five-game win streak and even take down No. 20 USC. LSU, on the other hand, was just handed its second loss of the season, and its chances at a College Football Playoff selection are lower than Notre Dame's.
Barstool's Brandon Walker posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) about the five teams that lost this past weekend in college football, and at the top at No. 1 was LSU. At least the Tigers can be ranked No. 1 somewhere.
Anyways, Walker stated that for LSU, the Kelly era was such a mistake, and he could not have been more right, and Notre Dame fans could have confirmed that.
Five teams that lost the week

1 LSU - The Kelly era is such a mistake
2 Miami - still in good shape but that was the UGA Beck
3 Nebraska - Minnesota owns you
4 Auburn - Fire him
5 Texas Tech - probably still fine but not the big 12 monster we thought
While Kelly did good things at Notre Dame, he was never able to take them further than just being a good team every year. It only once led to a National Championship, and he couldn't get his team fully past the finish line.
Notre Dame fans are content with where they are now with Marcus Freeman as the head coach. Freeman is far from perfect as well, but there feels like there is at least more of a future with him than there ever would have been with Kelly.
