When former Notre Dame football defensive back Benjamin Morrison decided not to compete at the NFL Combine and then not show off what he could do at the Irish’s Pro Day, there were some who wondered if his injured hip wasn’t all the way back.

Eventually, the Tampa Bay Bucs decided that if he was in fact, healed up and ready to go, as he seemingly showed off at a workout session earlier this week, he was a steal for the second round. So they selected him and will now allow him to show all the doubters that he’s still one of the best corners in the game.

Benjamin Morrison’s emotional NFL Draft moment shows why Tampa Bay believes in him

We’ve spent the last two days watching players’ dreams come true. There have been some truly moving stories of players who were surprised by where they went or were just overcome with emotion that they were being allowed to keep their careers going. Count the former Notre Dame football star among those who couldn’t hide how much getting drafted, and getting drafted still relatively early, meant to him.

Not long after the Bucs selected Morrison, Notre Dame posted a video on X showing what was going on inside Bmoe’s house when he got the call from Tampa, telling him his wait was over.

The defensive back was obviously all smiles, but he was also incredibly grateful, breaking down as he told Bucs head coach Todd Bowles “thank you for believing in me.” He then took another moment before he could speak again.

He then told Bowles that he “wasn’t going to let him down” before hanging up the phone, and screaming TAMPA while his friends and family gathered for the draft, celebrated, jumped around and embraced him.

Benjamin Morrison of course, has been one of the best defensive backs in the college ranks when he’s healthy. The former Notre Dame football star will now get to show what he can do next season.
