Since its April 30 launch, the Real American Freestyle wrestling league has made quite a few splashes. That includes adding former Notre Dame football star Brandon Wimbush to its ranks as an executive.
The Real American Freestyle league was founded by former well-known WCW and WWE personalities Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff. Hogan serves as commissioner, and Bischoff is the chief media officer. The pair are putting together an organization that is picking up steam quickly and Wimbush is one of those hires that might go under the radar (for non-Fighting Irish fans) but it is an important addition for the success of this new endeavor.
Since leaving the Notre Dame football team and then eventually leaving college football altogether, he’s forged quite the career in the business world. Now Wimbush will serve as this new wrestling league’s chief of staff and according to the league will “oversee operations, create processes, kickstart departments, and work across all levels of the brand.”
Wimbush has been adding to his reputation since starting the MOGL marketplace in 2020, That organizaton connects student-athletes with businesses for name, image, and likeness (NIL) dealings.

The success of that endeavor landed Wimbush on the Forbes 30 under 30 a year ago.
While some might see Hulk Hogan’s name attached to this new league and wonder if things have been thought through, it appears everyone involved is more interested in getting this thing off the ground in the best way possible.
Real American Freestyle is filling out its executive ranks with two figures with athletic and sponsorship backgrounds and the company has made significant waves since its launch a month ago.
The significant moves include signing eight wrestlers (including four Olympic medalists) and announcing its first event, set for Aug. 30 in Cleveland.
“The amalgamation of entrepreneurship and athleticism really resonated with me when I first learned about the position,” The former Notre Dame football star said in his own release. “I’m excited to join the likes of Hulk, Eric, Izzy, and Chad, as we work to establish the brand and help these incredible athletes in their careers.”
