Well, someone made a mistake somewhere.

There was a lot of talk about just how high Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love would go in the 2026 NFL Draft. His ceiling was as high as No. 3 to the Arizona Cardinals and as low as No. 7 to the Washington Commanders.

Well, Love ended up being the highest running back selected since Saquon Barkley was selected No. 2 overall by the New York Giants, as the Notre Dame star ended up going to the Cardinals at No. 3. There seemed to be a bit of a delay though in taking Love at No. 3, making it look like the Cardinals were waivering on if they wanted to go running back or not.

In all reality, it was a silly mixup.

Arizona Cardinals had the wrong phone number when calling Jeremiyah Love

Every player waiting to be drafted is always waiting by the phone anxiously, waiting for it to start ringing with an NFL team calling. Jeremiyah Love, he knew that Arizona was interested, but it took a little longer than usual for the Cardinals to get him on the phone.

Why is that? Apparently, the Cardinals were given the wrong phone number for Love, which resulted in a bit of a delay for the pick than it normally would have.

It feels like we have seen it all in the NFL Draft now. From Sheduer Sanders being prank-called during the 2025 NFL Draft, to players not always picking up their phone, to now having the wrong phone number for the player a team is selecting.

In the end, the Cardinals got Love on the phone, but it was certainly a bit longer of a wait than they probably hoped it would be. The Cardinals were probably sweating just a bit, thinking they were calling Love, and then he just didn't pick up.

It all worked out in the end as Love became a Cardinal and is already in Arizona ready to get to work.
